“Gorgeous,” she told her starving reflection.
For SixWordStories's 7 Deadly Sins Project! This sin was pride, which I know mostly as vanity.

If you've heard or read a little bit of Greek mythology, you should know about Pandora's box. However, if you've read or heard a lot of Greek mythology (or just really like the story behind flowers' names) then you know about Narcissus. You'd know how he was cursed to fall in love with his reflection in a pool (or puddle), and then you'd know how he died, either by starvation (cause all he wanted to do was stare at his reflection) or committed suicide, or fell in the pool and drowned (it depends on the myth that you've heard). Well, Narcissus is the very first thing I think of when I hear the word vanity. So, I wanted to write a story about him,  but I feel like that's too overdone. So, I went a little different.

This can have two meanings. Meaning one: A girl was too busy looking at her reflection to eat (much like Narcissus). Or Meaning two: This girl cared so much about her image that she only felt beautiful when she was skinny, so she starved herself to please herself.
Choose whichever meaning you'd like.

But please realize, ignoring your own needs for survival by focusing on image is never the right choice, and I hope you can live happily and full and not starve yourself because you think you'd look "prettier" because, by gosh, you are already one smoking gorgeous human being and don't let anyone else tell you otherwise (:
